Sleeping and waking occur in longer and shorter periods which are spread over 24 hours.
3-6 months
At 3 months baby should differentiate well day and night. Most of the sleep occurs at night. Daily naps should become more predictable. Should take 3 naps a day. 2 long naps midmorning and midday + 1 short in the evening. Evening nap dropped around 6 month.
6-12 months
2 naps. 2nd nap usually dropped around first birthday or next months.
12 + months
1 midday nap. Kids are dropping 2 naps at the same time or 1 at the time. Usually firstly they drop one. Some kids stop napping at the age 3, some kids at age 4 or even 5. Very individual topic.
